For those of you who have the older Zune's you might have run into this problem as I did. There is some type of bug that locks up your Zune player after Dec. 31 2008.
Microsoft has reported that the issue will be resolved when the Zune 30 battery completely drains then recharges. This will reset the clock and resolve the problem.
Here is a tutorial on how to fix a frozen Zune 30 by un-plugging the battery.
